This short note from early May 2004 explained the thinking behind the foundation’s next-day auction in Farmingdale, New York.
A deliberately small sale
The organisers said they had decided to keep the auction modest. Many supporters could not attend because it was again being held in New York, and the foundation had received interesting items from John Entwistle’s estate. It did not want to sell them to a local crowd only.
What would be offered
Items at the Farmingdale event were signed CDs, photographs, tour books and similar pieces donated by Bitsa Talent. Many were available in multiples, so they could be offered again later.
What was held back
The clothing and other estate pieces would be kept for an online auction on John’s own website at a future date, so that anyone could participate wherever they lived.
The announcement for the evening is in the earlier notice.
