Long Island Benefit Night Announced for May 2004

In late April 2004 the foundation announced another benefit evening, this time at a Long Island concert club in Farmingdale, New York, scheduled for 7 May.

How it differed from the March event

Compared with the earlier night at BB King Blues Club, this one was designed to be smaller. There would still be a silent auction, but only a handful of items rather than the forty or more offered in Manhattan. A list of auction items was to be posted once they had been catalogued.

The music

Three live bands were scheduled: Mazarin, TorQue and Square Feeet. TorQue planned to mix original songs with a few of John Entwistle’s compositions. The foundation noted that audiences at the previous show had responded warmly to the band’s treatment of his songs, so the group decided to keep some of them in its regular set.

Looking ahead

The foundation said it was planning events across the United States and internationally, but described itself as being in only its second quarter of activity. New York was easiest at that stage because the organisation was based there.

Thanks to supporters

As in other updates, the announcement thanked donors and encouraged readers to promote the foundation. Payment links and mailing addresses in the original are omitted. The follow-up note explains how the auction was shaped, and the New York recap covers the earlier event.
